Medicare Rebate Options
To receive a Medicare rebate for a diagnostic hearing assessment at Audiology Trio, you will need to see your doctor first to obtain one of the following:
1. A Referral from a Medical Doctor
If you are experiencing hearing concerns, your GP or a specialist (such as an ENT) can provide a formal referral for a diagnostic audiology consultation. This referral allows you to claim a portion of the consultation fee back from Medicare.
2. Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan
If you have a chronic medical condition that is being managed by your GP, you may be eligible for a referral under the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan (formerly known as the EPC or Enhanced Primary Care plan). This plan allows for a specific number of rebated allied health services per year, which can include audiology services here at our clinic.
The Hearing Services Program (HSP)
In addition to Medicare, many Australians are eligible for fully subsidised hearing services through the Commonwealth Hearing Services Program.
You may be eligible for free hearing tests and subsidised hearing aids if you are:
- A Pensioner Concession Card holder.
- A Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Gold Card holder.
- A DVA White Card holder (specifically for hearing loss).
- An active member of the Australian Defence Force.
Audiology Trio is a fully accredited provider for the HSP. If you aren’t sure of your status, we can help you check your eligibility and manage the paperwork.
